Each week, in communities throughout the country playgroups for children aged between two and five years old are held in village halls and community centres. These groups provide important opportunities for delivering early years education, childcare and socialisation.
One such group is Daviot Playgroup, which runs sessions in a village a few miles from Flowline Specialists headquarters in Oldmeldrum. The group operates three mornings a week and is run by a committee of volunteers and one staff member. In a small, rural community this type of get-together can be invaluable to parents with young children.
The income that is generated through fees and funding is not sufficient to cover all running costs. Throughout the year, the playgroup organises a series of fundraising initiatives to ensure its continuation. Flowline Specialists was proud to support the group’s 2016 Christmas Fair, donating a hamper as a raffle prize.
The group’s 2016 Christmas Fair raised £1,300, which will help purchase educational materials. As a business that draws some of its workforce from rural communities and whose employees and their families may require this type of childcare, it is important that Flowline Specialists is able to support playgroups such as Daviot.
